The STGMS may not uppack using Stuffit version 10

The Problem:

Apple Macintosh users encounter a Stuffit error code, #17538 while downloading and installing STGMS via Firefox

The problem is not specific to STGMS, but affects some other installers. that call on Stuffit to unpack their contents. As far as we can determine, the problem is specific to Firefox on the Mac. If you encounter the above error while installing STGMS, there are some workarounds:

1) Upgrade to Stuffit 11. This is not an option for some users. But if you have the time to upgrade this should solve the problem.

2) Use Safari Instead Of Firefox To Download STGMS. In our tests, machines with Stuffit 10 installed were able to successfully download and install STGMS using Safari.

4) Change Your Stuffit 10 Options as follows:.

1. Run the StuffIt application - usually found in /Applications/Utilities/StuffIt 10.0
2. Open the Expander preferences
3. Unselect the "Continue to expand if possible" option.

This should allow STGMS to be downloaded and installed normally using the Firefox web browser.
